Jessica and Ethan's Yosemite Wedding

Our Story

Ethan and I are engaged! We´re getting married! We had dated six and a half years before he popped the question, and things couldn´t have been more perfect…

We met in high school on the newspaper staff. We were friends for a year and a half before we got interested in each other. Our first date was to the local ice skating rink, we both wanted to show each other up, him being a hockey player, and I a figure skater.

Over the summer we fell in love while watching the stars and talking on my backyard trampoline. Our bond grew stronger through college, and finally we both graduated.

Last summer my grandparents were celebrating their 50th anniversary and decided to invite the entire family on a trip we had only dreamed of, to Africa. Leading up to the trip I mentioned to Ethan how romantic it would be to get engaged in Africa, and Ethan shrugged it off, saying he wanted our engagement to be a surprise.

When we got to Tanzania everyone was amazed at how special and magical the country was. We were all in awe, and nothing seemed real. On the third night, after arriving back from a game drive Ethan and I noticed the beautiful sunset. We had a tent on stilts where we had a flush toilet, shower, queen sized iron bed and a private porch that just so happened to be facing the sunset.

Ethan must have thought it was a perfect time, because he followed me out to the porch where I was sitting. He knelt down on one knee and popped the question. I couldn´t believe it! Africa already felt like a dream. We kissed and I said yes, and I looked down at my new amazing ring.

After I took a second to let it sink it, we told my family the great news. The rest of my trip to Africa was fantastic, and it made it more magical that I was engaged!

Once we got home we decided on Yosemite National Park and the date - July 9th 2006. We can´t wait.
